Due to Gregg Popovich’s coaching expertise, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Spurs go on a late surge to keep up their incredible record of reaching the postseason, although changes to the roster are long overdue, and the front office may be uncharacteristically active ahead of the trade deadline. So, as we draw closer to the deadline for trades, here we will take a look at all the latest San Antonio rumors you need to know.

#1 Spurs undecided on futures of DeMar D and LaMarcus AldridgeeRozan

With San Antonio facing an uphill battle to make the playoffs, there has been plenty of speculation regarding the futures of LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan. The veteran duo remains among San Antonio’s best performers, although they are the wrong side of 30 and not signed to long-term deals. In terms of either exciting ahead of the traded deadline, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald is reporting that the Spurs currently remain undecided:

Aldridge has made 39 appearances for the Spurs this season, averaging 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per contest. Meanwhile, DeRozan has played 41 times, averaging 22.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per contest. He is also shooting a career-high 53.8 percent from the field.

#2 DeMarre Carroll is unlikely to leave ahead of the deadline

DeMarre Carroll joined the Spurs in a three-team trade back in July, although the veteran has failed to earn a spot in Popovich’s rotation. Carroll has made just 15 appearances for the Spurs - averaging less than 10 minutes per game - and he has played a grand total of four minutes since the turn of the year. Due to his lack of minutes, Carroll has been linked with an exit, although Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors believes that the veteran is likely to see out the season in San Antonio:

Prior to his trade to the Spurs, Carroll impressed during a two-year spell with the Nets. Over 140 appearances (81 starts), the 33-year-old averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per contest.

#3 The Atlanta Hawks have considered making a move for Jakob Poeltl

Jakob Poeltl joined the Spurs back in the summer of 2018 as part of the blockbuster trade that sent Kawhi Leonard to Toronto, and the Austrian has established himself as a key component of Popovich’s bench. At 24, Poeltl’s best basketball is also seemingly ahead of him, and Michael Scotto of Bleacher Report is reporting that the Atlanta Hawks have previously expressed trade interest in the center:

Poeltl has played 41 times (7 starts) for the Spurs this season, averaging 4.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He has also shot almost 60 percent from the field and it seems unlikely that the Spurs will be willing to let Poeltl leave as they focus on younger talent.
