Samurai Japan, Japan’s national team, won 4-0 on Saturday, notching their third straight win in the five-game showcase. While Japan clinched the series with Saturday’s victory, the two teams will still play the final two games.
Norimoto only tossed 60 pitches – 20 short of the 80-pitch limit – and was followed by Yuki Nishi, Kazuhisa Makita, and Yuji Nishino, who were able to keep an MLB All-Star lineup that included Yasiel Puig and Robinson Cano from collecting any base hits.
“Norimoto was outstanding. He was very efficient. He has a powerful fastball and very good late action to go with his split, his slider and cutter,” said MLB manager John Farrell following the game.
Chris Capuano will take the hill in Game 4 for the MLB All-Stars and face off against Samurai Japan’s Shintaro Fujinami.
