Samsung’s Entire High-Res Monitor Lineup Has HDR Support
Samsung revealed its lineup via a press release on the Samsung Newsroom.
Keeping future-proofing in mind, all 12 variants of Samsung’s new monitors feature HDR10 support at 300 nits of brightness. It should be noted that this doesn’t meet VESA’s minimum DisplayHDR certification of 400 nits.
Despite not being VESA certified, Samsung’s 300 nits HDR10 technology will greatly enhance the average user’s viewership experience. It is perfect for a much better watching experience on Netflix and while gaming.
HDR is increasingly becoming the norm when it comes to high-res monitors, especially, with Microsoft launching its Auto HDR feature in Windows 10.
Features Across All of Samsung’s 2021 High-Res Monitor Lineup
All variants in Samsung’s monitor lineup feature support for more than 1 billion colors. Additionally, all displays also have “a 178-degree wide viewing angle designed for professional work environments.”
From an eye-care perspective, Samsung’s lineup has been Intelligent Eye Care certified from TÜV Rheinland.
The new monitors also feature better energy efficiency. This is mainly due to what Samsung calls, “Eco Saving Plus technology.” All monitors have Energy Star and EPEAT certifications.
Samsung’s flagship model is the S8 that comes in two variants: the S80UA and S80A. The S8 series of monitors come in 27-inch and 32-inch screen sizes. Both variants in the S8 lineup consist of a UHD display that “delivers a 99% sRGB color gamut.” The S8 monitors also have a VESA mount capability along with a Height Adjustable Stand (HAS). Other nifty features include 90W charging (S80UA), a 10Gbps USB-C type port, USB 3.0 port, and a USB hub.
The S7 series also features an Ultra HD resolution along with 27-inch and 32-inch display sizes. It also has a borderless design for extra immersion and a cleaner look. Unlike the S8, the S7 features only tilt capability and no height-adjustment.
The S6 lineup of monitors supports QHD (2560x1440) resolution and comes in three variants: the S65UA, S60UA, and S60A. Among these, the S65UA is an ultra-wide monitor with 1000R curvature on offer. The S6 series also supports Picture By Picture (PBP) and Picture In Picture (PIP). The S6 variants are the only ones that feature AMD FreeSync support in Samsung’s lineup.
Samsung’s Lineup Is Aimed At Professionals
It’s safe to say that Samsung has placed most of its focus on professionals and creators in 2021’s high-res monitor lineup. The wide viewing angle is perfect for professionals and users with a multi-monitor setup. Extra features such as LAN cable compatibility (S6 Series) are also welcome additions.
