The 71-year-old Wyche coached the Bengals from 1984-91, leading the team to their second Super Bowl appearance in 1988. Wyche, who was 84-107 as an NFL coach, later led the Buccaneers in four losing seasons.
Wyche also spent nine seasons as an NFL quarterback, and is credited with introducing the no-huddle offense to the league. He last coached in the NFL as the Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach for 2004-05 seasons.
