Raimi’s reputation as a horror filmmaker, director, and producer includes such hit franchises as The Evil Dead and the first Spider-Man trilogy. Raimi is considered one of Hollywood’s most in-demand producers/directors. Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios are responsible for the recent box office horror phenom Barbarian, a film with a small budget but one that topped ticket sales and has garnered critical acclaim for its horrific take on urban gentrification.

As reported by Deadline, Raimi and Lebovici will collaborate with Christian Mercuri’s Capstone Studios to produce the horror-thriller, Don’t Move. A psychological thriller, Don’t Move chronicles a grieving woman injected with a paralytic agent by a seasoned killer. She must then struggle to escape and hide before her body completely shuts down. Don’t Move is helmed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto (who previously worked with Raimi on his anthology horror series 50 States of Fright) and written by T.J. Cimfel and David White.
“Alex and the team at Hammerstone as well as our friends at Capstone are the ideal production partners as we bring this compelling and twisted tale to light,” said Raimi. “I am delighted to collaborate again with our co-directors Adam and Brian on this incredibly frightening and tense story full of so many twists and turns – it will deliver a fantastic horror punch to the audience!” Don’t Move follows another film bringing Raimi and Lebovici together, the upcoming action-thriller Boy Kills World starring Bill Skarsgard.
With its interesting premise and Raimi’s name attached to the project, Don’t Move bodes well for both Hammerstone and Capstone, both of which have emphasized the production and financing of high-quality films across all genres and investing in new and exciting projects. Lebovici’s Barbarian grossed $45 million at the box office, kickstarting this falls horror offerings leading up to Halloween and making it one of the top horror projects of the year that was not part of a larger franchise.
While casting decisions have not been made, the reputations of both Raimi and Lebovici and the success of their past work together will no doubt draw strong performers out of the woodwork for the project, which is currently in the development stage. The script by Cimfel and White follows their collaboration on films like Intruders (2015) and the upcoming Blumhouse spooky child horror, There’s Something Wrong With the Children.
