Armor is one of the most important things players should concentrate on, as being protected can be the difference between life and death against certain foes. Starting the game at an advantage or searching for good armor early on will help with this, and that’s why players should be searching for these armor sets in the opening hours.

10 Dusken Set

Any players that decide to begin the game as the Sage will automatically begin the game wearing this set of armor. The set itself may not have the best defensive stats to it; however, this doesn’t stop the set from being useful when starting the game.

The Dusken set can easily defend against dark and light elemental power, making it a brilliant idea to use when fighting against certain mages. Due to it also being light armor, players have more freedom to dodge around their enemies and therefore require less defense.

9 Dalen Set

Players that choose to play as an Assassin will begin the game wearing this light armor, though it can also be found in the Ashbourne Village after devouring a Named Mage’s Heart. This is the first world players will be able to explore and therefore get it early on.

The assassin class itself is a class many players decide to avoid. However, being able to wear this armor early into the game gives the player a decent physical defense as well as all-round resistance to all the elements available.

8 The Healers Set

Looking for a set that is good against poison and can still protect against other damage? Then the Healers set is the way to go. Unlike the first sets of armor, no class begins the game wearing this, and therefore, it must be found in the second world of Bol Gerahn.

Although the area in which it is found doesn’t contain main poison-affiliated enemies, going back to revisit Ashbourne Village with this set will make fighting against the boss Varren Ovrin will be much easier.

7 Guard’s Set

Heavy armor also has its own great early game sets, such as the Guard’s Set that can be found in the Ashbourne Village. Although players can also purchase this gear for two-thousand silver from Shopkeeper Arnold, it is much easier to find the entire set for free.

Climbing high across the platforms and exploring is rewarded as, eventually, players will stumble across a chest that contains the entire armor set. The room where it can be found may be hidden, but climbing across the castle’s lower-west Obelisk will eventually reveal the opening.

6 Smithing Set

Ashbourne Village still has plenty in store for players when it comes to equipment, as players can easily find the Smithing Gear. It is not only a light armor set with an average amount of defense but also a great set to wear when challenging foes that favor fire above all else.

The chest containing this early game armor can be found inside Ashpeak Castle. Once defeating all three mages, the doors to this castle will open, and then the player needs to locate the Inquisitor Selet. Behind this, the treasure chest can be found.

5 Heavy Set

Players that choose to begin the game as a Fighter will also find themselves keeping their original armor for a while due to its usefulness. It not only has great physical defense due to being a heavy set of armor but also brilliant elemental resistances to keep the player alive against mages.

Those that decided not to play as a Fighter can also still get this set when entering the Ashpeak Castle. From some skillful climbing to passing an optional Unnamed Electromancer, players can find the chest that contains the entire set to wear.

4 Glacial Set

In Salt and Sacrifice, players can also craft their own armor as long as they have all the materials they could possibly need for it. One such great early game set to craft is the Glacial heavy armor set. As its name suggests, this armor is great to use when fighting against enemies that use Ice, as well as those that use Dark, while having great physical defense.

The complete set may need a lot of enemy drops to put together; however, grinding the boss Celus Zend and his minions will help the player easily obtain all the materials. They then need to take it to the blacksmith and then make the entire set to wear.

3 Cleric Set

Not only is the Cleric Class one of the best classes for players to start as in Salt and Sacrifice, but the armor they start with is also a set to keep on for a while during the early game. Although it is light armor, and that may make some players believe that the defense is lacking, the lightness allows for easier mobility when fighting foes.

Those that decided not to choose Cleric can still find the set when entering the second world in the game called Bol Gerahn; here, it can be found in a treasure chest within the Forsaken Gulch area.

2 Palatine Set

Those hoping to be a confident tank from the beginning of the game may have decided to pick to play at the Paladin. Their skills are not the only thing that makes this possible, as the player starts in the full set of Palatine armor.

Its strong physical defense makes up for how slow a player will be when wearing it. However, its defense against all elements, especially Dark, means players don’t need to worry about getting out of the way of the mages they face.

1 Redmetal Set

Stepping away from the sets that can be found is another armor that can be crafted. The Redmetal armor set is not only light, allowing players to be agile, but also has a decent amount of defense for those hits that a player can not dodge out the way of.

It also has great resistance to fire damage due to requiring material found from Arzhan-Tin and his minions, who all attack with fire. They can all be found in the Ashbourne village, making for a quick set to craft.
