Berns, a Foxborough, Mass., high schooler who become the public face of progeria, died Friday in Boston. He was 17. Progeria is a genetic disorder that results in rapid premature aging. Only a few hundred people have the disease, which leads to hair loss, stunted growth, joint deterioration and cardiac problems. Those who suffer from it rarely live past 13. Berns' parents are doctors, and started the Progeria Research Foundation after his diagnosis in 1999....
